SUMMARY:WHO IS TARANA BURKE? THE 'ME TOO.' MOVEMENT
DESCRIPTION:Tarana Burke is an activist with nearly three decades of experi
 ence at the intersection of racial justice and gender equity. As the found
 er of the "me too." movement\, she centers survivors\, particularly Black 
 women and girls. While her work gained global fame in 2017\, Burke remains
  focused on long-term systemic change regarding body autonomy and sexual v
 iolence. Her honors include TIME Person of the Year (2017) and the Sydney 
 Peace Prize (2019).\n\nTHE "me too." Movement was established in 2006 by T
 arana Burke to provide healing and resources for survivors in marginalized
  communities. Though it gained global visibility in 2017\, its core missio
 n remains focused on systemic change and "empowerment through empathy." No
 w operating as "me too." International\, the movement combats the root cau
 ses of sexual violence through survivor-led advocacy and cultural reform.
