 C Riverside Department of Music presents UCR is Composing\, a concert cele
 brating new music created by UCR composition students. The program feature
 s a showcase of original works for violin and piano\, written especially f
 or this occasion and performed by the distinguished ensemble Duo Álma.\n\
 n \n\nFormed by violinist Lourdes Lobo and pianist Rubia Santos\, Duo Álm
 a is an internationally active chamber ensemble dedicated to both the clas
 sical repertoire and contemporary music. Since beginning their collaborati
 on in 2017\, the duo has performed widely across Latin America and has dev
 eloped a reputation for championing new works and music by Latin American 
 composers.\n\n \n\nPianist Rubia Santos\, a Brazilian-born artist based in
  Costa Rica\, has performed internationally and has held teaching position
 s at universities in the United States\, Germany\, and Costa Rica. Her wor
 k often includes premieres and advocacy for new music from Brazilian and L
 atin American composers.\n\n \n\nViolinist Lourdes Lobo\, originally from 
 San José\, Costa Rica\, has been an active performer for more than fiftee
 n years and previously performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of C
 osta Rica. Through Duo Álma\, she has toured widely and collaborated on p
 rograms that connect the classical tradition with contemporary repertoire.
 \n\n \n\nIn this special concert at UCR\, the duo will present world premi
 eres by UCR student composers\, offering audiences a rare opportunity to h
 ear emerging voices in contemporary composition interpreted by internation
 ally experienced performers. The works explore a wide range of musical ide
 as—from lyrical chamber writing to experimental textures—reflecting th
 e diversity of creative approaches cultivated within UCR’s composition p
 rogram\n\n \n\nADMISSION\n\nFree and open to the public.\n\nThough admissi
 on is free\, a ticket is required. One ticket per person will be distribut
 ed at the venue one hour before the concert. Seating is limited and on a f
 irst-come\, first-served basis.\n\n \n\nLOCATION\n\nPerformance Lab (ARTS 
 166)\n\nThere is no reserved seating\, so please arrive early for the best
  selection of seats.\n\nThe performance will start promptly at the announc
 ed curtain time and latecomers will only be seated at an appropriate pause
