About
Join us for Caribbean Embodied Ethnographies, a lecture from Sádé Budhlall! Wednesday, October 21 3:00pm-4:30pm ARTS 300 Sádé Budhlall is a Trinbagonian anti-disciplinary artist exploring disobedient possibilities of the ‘classical’ dancing body. Working primarily through Odissi, she interrogates the politics of classicism and reworlds technique through Caribbean diasporic embodiment. Her practice spans performance, participatory installation, facilitation, moving image and guest lecturing, engaging questions of race, heritage, nationalism and post-colonial Caribbean life. Sádé holds an MA in Dance: Participation, Communities and Activism from London Contemporary Dance School and is co-author of a forthcoming Routledge chapter on unlearning tradition through dance. Her work has been presented in Trinidad and Tobago and internationally, including screenings of her debut screendance, DOUGLA. Free and open to the UCR community!
